NOTE: Cesare Scheggi was a sculptor who worked as far as it is known, exclusively in marble. His works rarely appear on the market, but all known examples are either busts of young girls, sculptures of beautiful women, or mythological subjects such as Apollo or Diana. His oeuvre stems from the "second half" of the nineteenth century and it is believed that his studio was based in Florence, a renowned center for marble carvers. Scheggi’s works consistently demonstrate considerable technical skill combined with great artistic experience and an ability to bring life and personality to his works.
