Gaspar van den Hoecke, was a painter of religious subjects and flower still lives. He became a member of the Antwerp St.Lucas Guild in 1603. He married twice, with Margriet van Leemputte and Margriet Musson - Mission. From his seven children, Robert and Jan became painters too. Gaspar was mentioned for the first time in 1595, when he became a pupil of Julius Teniers. He taught his son Robert and Justus van Egmont.


Dr. Fred Meijer from the RKD accepted this picture as a genuine work by Gaspar van den Hoecke. Only eight flower pictures by his hand are known.
